Crossing and Revolving White line woodcut 12 of 12"x12Crossing and Revolving was inspired by my travels in the summer of 2023 through Newfoundland, Canada. These 12 works express a combination of the islands, the sea, and the birds. Falling leaves or feathers arise in a new land of high stone walls and rolling waves as a new generation of immigrants. The clustered seabirds clinging to each other on the sea rocks stimulate feelings of new exploration. The waves undulate for the second generation’s navigation of complex cultural and historical intersections between east and west. Without the other shore in sight, there is no turning around.
